mark fromm

A native of Pittsburgh, Mark Fromm is a bassoonist, saxophonist, and composer. An active performer, he strives to write music that is exciting and fun to perform as well as to hear. He was recently honored with a commission by the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society to write a saxophone quartet celebrating the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the city, and the resulting piece, Steel, Slag and Silicon, was premiered in April of 2009. He is currently working towards his PhD in Composition and Theory from the University of Pittsburgh.
