matthew gillespie

Matthew Gillespie, composer, pianist, and harpsichordist, was born in Sylva, North Carolina in 1977. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 1999 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he studied composition with Eddie Bass and Craig Walsh, piano with Joseph DiPiazza, and harpsichord with Andrew Willis. In 2004, he earned a Master of Music degree from East Carolina University, where he studied composition with Ed Jacobs and harpsichord with John O'Brien. He is currently working towards a PhD in composition at the University of Pittsburgh, where he has studied with Mathew Rosenblum, Eric Moe, and Amy Williams. Mr. Gillespie is primarily a composer of solo, chamber and vocal music. He currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
