Ivan Jimenez (b. 1976) holds degrees in composition from the Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá, Colombia) and the University of Pittsburgh. He has studied with composers Mart Simmer, Eric Moe, Mathew Rosemblum, and Roger Zahab among others.
His works focus on an innovative way of generating pieces out of preexistent compositions. In 1998 he released his first CD, Dulces Sueños and in 2000 his composition Fábula won the National Award for Composition in Colombia.
That same year his piece La Maldición del Oeste Bendecido premiered on Danish radio, and in 2004 American dancer Christopher Williams chose his composition El Catálogo de Las Horas Tenues for one of his choreographies.
