christopher ruth

Christopher Ruth received his B.F.A. with Honors in Music Composition from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004, where he studied with Nancy Galbraith and Leonardo Balada. His compositional styles range from the four full-length musicals he co-wrote and produced while at CMU, to the more serious works for the concert stage. His first orchestra work, _Die Rote Kapelle_, was premiered at the Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh by the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic in 2004, and many of his smaller works have seen performances in Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Currently pursuing a PhD in Historical Musicology, composition still remains a large part of his musical life. A performer as well, chiefly on the piano and organ, his work is manifested as a private teacher, church organist, and recitalist, whose performances have been given as far abroad as Fairbanks, Alaska and Vienna, Austria.
